this year I'm THANKFUL for...

First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I am THANKFUL for gas prices descending in the knick of time for the thanksgiving holiday. Some who were not traveling for thanksgiving due to high gas prices finally get a break to visit loved ones on this blessed day. I am THANKFUL for the grandios opportunity to be a part of history when we officially open the doors of the FIRST aloft Dulles North hotel in the metro area. A feat within itself but we are finally here and are excited to share the aloft vibe with anyone and everyone who is curious or just want to experience the aloft. I am THANKFUL for the NEW talent we have hired and frienships we have already established within our staff. Without great communication and solid relationships we can't make the exceptional vibe experience possible. I am THANKFUL to share my thanksgiving with loved ones and new friendships I have made in the DC/VA area. And last but not least, I am THANKFUL to have YOU read about our progression, personal stories, area attractions and about the aloft concept in general, Thank you for reading!

Saturday Star Party

aloha aloft star gazing fans! If you have read our blog, you may get the feeling that I am a big OUTDOORS fan! I love camping, boating, hiking, fishing, any outdoors sports, etc...

When I go camping in the Shenandoah Mountains, I particularly enjoy the night time scene. Let me try to describe the wondrous sight. The air is crisp and cold, with only the bright glare of a wood smelling fire keeping us warm. As you look up, past the wind swaying trees, in the midst of all that I can describe as a black blanket...you get to see the bright diamond like heavenly stars. If you stare hard and long enough, you may even catch the glimpse of a few shoot stars streaking across the black night.

This Saturday, the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum is hosting an event that I can not wait to attend. The Saturday Star Party at Sky Meadows State Park near Paris, Virginia. The event will be held from 4:45pm until 10pm and the cost of admission is FREE!

If you are just as amazed with stars and constellations please join Sean O’Brien, staff astronomer of the Albert Einstein Planetarium, and other local amateur astronomers, for public telescopic observing under dark, star-filled skies, away from city lights. The evening begins with a short night sky orientation at dusk, followed by telescopic observing of various astronomical objects.

See you under the stars!

Congrats to the NEW a-list TALENTS!

On November 6th, 2008, the aloft Dulles North held it's FIRST job fair/talent call. It was held between the hours of 8am-7pm, in order to accomodate everyone who wanted an opportunity to try out for our Talent Call. I am HAPPY to say that we have NEW a-list Talents that have been hired and we couldn't be happier to share the vibe with everyone. There wasn't a time where we didn't have an interview or interacted with potential talent while they waited for their chance to be part of the a-list. We displayed videos and slideshows of the aloft and what it has to offer. The aloft aroma was catching everyones sense of smell and the games were putting everyone at ease to be themselves. I had an awesome time with everyone who came to learn and interview for any of the positions we had open. If you are still interested and would like a try to be apart of the a-list, we can always make room for future TALENT. aloft Dulles North is a-gogo!
