Playoff Season - Capitals Prosper

Aloha,

Personally, I am a fan of NBA basketball, but since our beloved Washington Wizards didn't even come within a mile of making the playoffs, we have to turn our attention to Ice Hockey, where the Washington Capitals are making strides on the ice on the playoffs conference quarterfinals. The Rangers Capitals series have always been historically filled with tension, and it was no different this year, a case in which both teams fought it out till the final bout in game 7.

For most of the first 40 minutes, the New York Rangers dominated play in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Washington Capitals. They dominated in puck possession and created more scoring chances. The game was tied 1-1, but it looked like a matter of when, not if, they would break through. Then came the third period, and all the good the Rangers had done unraveled in 20 painful minutes. The Caps owned the puck and limited New York to just one shot on goal while getting the game-winner from Sergei Fedorov in a 2-1 win.

The next stage in the series for the Capitals will be the eastern conference semi finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and if you can get tickets early enough, a trip to the VERIZON CENTER to center ice is not far away from the aloft Dulles Airport North hotel. You can either hop on our complimentary chevy tahoe shuttle to the airport, where you can catch a Washington flyer bus to DC. Otherwise, our aloha desk and personal concierge will be happy to give you driving directions to downtown DC.

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day from the Aloft Dulles Airport North hotel! Earth Day was created over 30 years ago to inspire awareness and promote appreciation for the Earth's environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year.

Here at the Aloft Dulles Airport hotel we pride ourselves on being eco-friendly, and we have taken many measures to reduce the carbon-foot print that other hotels may not have thought of. no more small plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles that increase our land fill. At Aloft, we have installed a large all in one shampoo/conditioner dispenser as well as a large body wash dispenser in each of our guest bathrooms. All outfitted with the finest of Bliss Products. We have also done away with the gas guzzling hotel shuttles that are commonly used with other hotels. Here at Aloft, we use a 2009 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid to escort our guests within 5 miles of the hotel, and back and forth from Washington Dulles International Airport. Have you heard of "soak and a-save"? This is an option for our guests to let our talent team know if they would like to use their existing terry and linen throughout their stay. It reduces the amount of water used, and the amount of detergents in the water that is used. Rinse is a guest friendly car was each Aloft hotel has. We use eco-friendly car soap as well.

So the next time you are traveling to the Washington-Dulles area, do you part and stay at the Aloft Dulles Airport hotel, an eco-friendly hotel all year long.

Cherry Blossom Review

I can finally say that I have been to the Cherry Blossom Festivities. It took alot of patience but I finally got to see why the cherry blossom is so BIG in DC. I took the metro into town because I though that driving and finding parking would be a hassle but little did I know that the metro was not that much better. I felt that everyone in the world was crammed in the metro and every time we stopped more people came in to ride. We finally got to the smithsonian stop and we heard music and smelled food. People were flying kites left and right, it was an awesome feeling to see so many people come together and enjoy a day like this. I will be coming back next year but this time I will be having a picnic and flying my own kites during the cherry blossom and taking in more of the event. There is still time to come join the festivities and aloft Dulles Airport North is giving the most affordable rate around. Take the chance and come join us at aloft and be able to go into DC and see for yourself what all the fuss is about.
