a-sassy Aloft Wedding!

First and foremost, I want to say Congratulations to Angus & Andrea Small, our very first aloft wedding. Angus & Andrea had sent us a letter about their Aloft Dulles Airport North wedding experience, it goes as follows:

"To Whom It May Concern:

On Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 we were scheduled to have a destination wedding in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Due to the unfortunate spread of the swine flu we had to cancel our wedding two days before our departure. After picking ourselves up from disappointment we decided to proceed with the same date at a local location. Our research of places lead us to the Aloft hotel in Dulles, VA. Immediately after walking in we fell in love with the décor. Irssy Perez greeted us and we explained our situation. She quickly empathized with us and offered to help us and accommodate whatever way she could. She gave us a tour of the space and explained they don’t typically do many weddings but she would be happy to help and allow us to use the patio area.

In the time of most need Irssy went above and beyond to make our event a huge success. Because of Aloft hotels we were able to have a stress-free interaction with the hotel and our planning team of volunteers from our local church that helped to pull together a new wedding in four days. Irssy provided suggestions, options and even detailed information and follow-up on everything we asked. We look back and wonder how something that was suppose to be so stressful ended up happening so smoothly. The rest of the hotel staff was extremely polite, professional and helpful throughout the whole process! They went out of their way to make us feel like family!

Thank you again for turning our lemons into lemonade. This letter is brief and doesn’t do enough justice to our true gratitude and excitement for what you have done! Instead of 25 people attending a destination wedding we were able to have the wedding of our dreams with over 100 family and friends in attendance. Everyone continues to talk about how beautiful wedding and the hotel was. You have made our dreams come true and we couldn’t be more happier about Irssy, your hotel staff, Aloft and the W hotel group!

Thank You!
Angus & Andrea Small"

It was a pleasure to be able to help bring sunshine into what once was a cloudy day to your wedding. I am elated that I could be part of such a wonderful occasion in your lives and the aloft Team as well. Many blessings to you and yours!

Loudoun County Wins an Emmy

Aloha a-list fans,

In the year 2007, Loudoun County was THE fastest growing county in all of the United States. To best grasp what this beautiful area has to offer, one must catch a glimpse of this beautiful county through visual moving pictures. Just recently, The Loudoun Convention & Visitors Association has been nominated for a 2008 Emmy® Award for the Visit Loudoun videos!

Take a tour of Loudoun right from your computer with these experiential videos. See the beauty of some of Loudoun’s most picturesque wineries, discover the past of Loudoun’s most historic locales, and meet some locals from our charming towns. You also enjoy “virtually” attending some of our coutny's annual country fairs and steeplechase races, too. Now that the aloft in Ashburn has been open for 6 months, we hope to make it into these videos on day as well.

Watch these videos and then plan your trip to Loudoun!

Celebrity Sighting at the Aloft Dulles Aiport North

What a treat to have actor Faizon Love stay with us this past week while attending the GIFF 2009 Film Festival in Washington D.C. held from May 12th-18, 2009.

Mr. Love displayed his comedic talent in the early ages of his education. His English teacher promised him if he behaved in class, he would be allowed to do a 5 minute comedy bit each day.

This was the beginning of Faizon's acting career. You may know him from the roles he has played in the following blockbusters: Friday, A Thin Line Between Love & Hate, Made, Money Talks, The Players Club, The Replacements, The Fighting Temptations, Wonderland, Torque, and Elf.

I had many opportunities to speak with Mr. Love, and I can tell you from first hand experience, he is not only funny, but very intelligent and a true gentleman.

Thanks Faizon for staying with us, we"ll see you next time your in the Washington, D.C. area!

Sully Historic Site

Aloha,

When staying at the aloft Dulles Airport North in the pleasant city of Ashburn in Loudoun County, the first two main tourist sites that come to mind to visit is the Air and Space museum and the Sully Historic Site.

An oasis of the past, Sully, or sometimes known as Sully plantation, reflects the history of Fairfax County and the early history of the United States. The house, which was completed in 1799 by Richard Bland Lee, combines aspects of Georgian and Federal architecture. Richard Bland Lee was Northern Virginia's first Representative to Congress, as well as General Robert E. Lee's uncle.

With summer approaching, there are a series of events that will be offered at the Sully historic site. With a room at the aloft Dulles. why not hop onto our shuttle and be drifted away into past colonial times while enjoying contemporary events? For example, on the 23rd of May, there will be a "banjo on my knee" event, which will teach us the versatility of this historic instrument while giving us a chance to make one ourselves. Also, on the 21st of June, there will be an antique car show that presents to us antique and classic cars, flea markets, food and music. To boot, on the weekend of the 15th and 16th in August, Sully will hold a civil war weekend that teaches us the important history of the battle between North and South.

Computer Training in Northern Virginia

New Computer Training Facility Opening Soon

Academy of Computer Education

If you're looking for computer training in Northern Virginia, you won't have to wait much longer. The Academy of Computer Education® (ACE) is scheduled to open it's doors at their new Ashburn, VA location in July. The well established IT training school will continue to provide the full schedule of certificationcourses like MCITP, CCNA, and A+/Network+ at their Greenbelt, Maryland headquarters, and will develop the new facility with the same standards for quality.

ACE expects to continue its recent success with CEH certification courses, at the new Ashburn, Virginia location by catering to the large and growing GSA contract segment. With the introduction of a computer training school into the heart of the Dulles corridor, ACE will develop course offerings to suit this area's significant base of government related workers.
