Labor Day Pina Colada Drink Recipe

Chill out and Enjoy your Day off with a Delicious Pina Colada!

Ingredients:

1 1/2oz. Light Rum

2 oz. Pineapple Juice

1 oz. Cream of Coconut

1/2 Banana

1/2 cup crushed ice

Directions:

 

Combine all ingredients in an electric blender with the ice. Blend 20 – 30 seconds. Pour blended mixture into a Collins glass. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and paper umbrella (of course!)

The Big Day: Annual Pancake Breakfast and Potato Harvest



Description: Start your day with pancakes hot off the griddle and topped with Great Country Farm's fruit butters or syrup. Juices and coffee included. After breakfast take a hayride to the u-pick potato patch to hunt for potato treasure. Did you know that most potatoes in stores are LAST year's harvest? You will be amazed by the flavor and texture of fresh potatoes! We will even plow some rows with the tractor to make the hunting easier! Potato Day activities include making a Potato Stamp Tee and trying out our Potato Gun. After you dig your potatoes, join us in the Roosteraunt for a FREE potato chip tasting with Route 11 Chips. Then you can picnic around our featured tractors and antique fire trucks.

                                                      57 Chevy

57 Chevy Ingredients:

2/3 oz Southern Comfort

2/3 oz Gin

2/3 oz Orange Juice

2/3 oz Pineapple Juice

1 dash Grenadine

Garnish: Mint Sprig

57 Chevy Instructions:

1) Shake all ingredients well with ice.
2) Add a few ice cubes to an old-fashioned glass.
3) Strain into the glass, and garnish with a sprig of mint.

Ingredients:

2 oz  Silver Tequila

1.5 oz pear puree

3/4 oz simple syrup

1/2 ozfresh lime juice

Slice pear garnish

 In a tall mixing glass combine all ingredients. Add ice and shake vigorously.

Strain into a pre-chilled margarita (or martini) glass. Garnish with a pear.

It all started in 2007. Edson & Dave, after playing together in different setups over the years, decided to get their own band together and Thirteen Towers was born. Thirteen Towers is a melodic punk band from Fairfax, Virginia. Mikey, a transfer from Philly to our area answered our online ad for a drummer in late ‘07 . By early '08 Cliff joined the group and took over vocals and rhythm guitar. Thirteen Towers began playing shows in the summer of ’08 churning out a handful of songs that came together from the experiences and ideas that each one of its members brought to the table. Cliff had to leave the band in Feb. ’09 for personal reasons and we wish him all the best. Long time friend Mike T. joined the band a month later as the new voice of Thirteen Towers and with him the show went on and this spawned cool new material. Steveo joined in late ’09 on rhythm guitar. Stevo relocated to Ohio in 2010, and Dave in 2011. Thirteen Towers will continue to play shows, drink beer, make friends, drink beer, and also drink some more beer. With 2 new guitar players Jeff and Xavi, Thirteen Towers will be rocking the Metro area to a catchy punk rumble with sometimes corny, sometimes serious, sometimes political, sometimes drunk lyrics. We were asked to join a compilation CD called " VS the World " available on iTunes, with our song “ Always “ We are always meeting some great local punk bands and awesome crowds that keep us playing out as many shows as we can. Be on the lookout for our album soon.

Drink Recipe # 6

Ingredients

1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange
1 1/2 cups rum
1/2 cup white sugar
1 (750 milliliter) bottle dry red wine
1 cup orange juice

Directions

1.Have the fruit, rum, wine, and orange juice well chilled. Slice the lemon, lime and orange into thin rounds and place in a large glass pitcher. Pour in the rum and sugar. Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours to develop the flavors.

2.When ready to serve, crush the fruit lightly with a wooden spoon and stir in the wine and orange juice. Adjust sweetness to taste.

Watermelon Wave

Ingredients:

4 oz tequila
3 oz GranGala Triple Orange Liqueur
3 oz maraschino liqueur
20 oz fresh watermelon juice
2 oz pomegranate juice
2 oz fresh lemon juice
Watermelon wedges for garnish

Preparation:

1.Pour the ingredients into a pitcher.
2.Stir well.
3.Strain the mixture into goblets over ice.
4.Garnish with cubes of watermelon on cocktail picks or use wedges perched on the glass rim

Held the first Friday of every month, except January, Leesburg's First Friday lets you fully experience all that Historic Downtown Leesburg has to offer. Over 35 specialty shops, art galleries, antique shops and restaurants are open until 9pm or later, many offering free refreshments and/or special sales. Enjoy live music throughout the evening, art exhibits, wine tastings, a comedy show and even a yoga happy hour! Leesburg's First Friday is a program of the Loudoun Arts Council.

National Night Out

National Night Out on August 7

The 2012 National Night Out is Tuesday, August 7. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services will hold free events in Lovettsville, Middleburg and Purcellville. National Night Out promotes community spirit and police/community partnerships in the fight against crime.

Lovettsville Community Center will feature music, swimming, scooter races and more from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Call 540-822-5284. There will be family games, snacks and swimming at Middleburg Community Center from 5-7 p.m. Call 540-687-6375. Carver Center in Purcellville will offer refreshments while DJ Sky Dantinne spins dance tunes in the Grand Hall from 6-8 p.m. Call 571-258-3400.
